SGW’s Safety & Security Assessment and Compliance consultancy service aims to offer support services to organisations who aspire to, or in certain circumstances, must achieve specific safety & security standards which satisfy rules and directives set by their country governing bodies. Alternatively, achieving standards compliance or external accreditation and assessment in safety and security provides increased public confidence, added kudos to a site or development who has progressed such recognition and in some cases, assurance to third parties (‘E.G. user groups, tenants, insurers, customer’s etc.’) that the organisation has placed high importance on the safety and security of the protected assets (‘People, Property, Reputation etc.’).

International Best Practice

Building Research Establishment (BRE) SABRE Security Assessment and Certification Scheme – SABRE is a security assessment and certification scheme for new and existing buildings and built infrastructure assets. The SABRE scheme promotes a systematic and risk-based approach to security, which leads to the most operationally and cost effective solutions. SGW have been granted a SABRE licence by BRE which allows our company, our Registered Assessors and/or Registered Professionals to display the relevant SABRE Badge of Recognition and provide professional services under the terms of reference associated with the scheme.

Building Research Establishment (BRE) BREEAM Hea 06 Safety and Security Needs Assessment – One BREEAM credit is available to developers, in relation to Security of site and building, which requires a Suitably Qualified Security Specialist (SQSS) to conduct an evidence based Security Needs Assessment (SNA) during or prior to Concept Design (RIBA Stage 2 or equivalent).

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Ministry of Interior – High Commission for Industrial Security (HCIS) – The High Commission for Industrial Security, referred to as HCIS, is the national regulatory agency for Security, Safety & Fire Protection requirements at industrial facilities and designated critical infrastructure, Kingdom-wide. The HCIS Security Directives are mandated by the Minister of Interior, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The HCIS issues the Security, Safety & Fire Protection directives.

United Arab Emirates

Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) – The Security Industry Regulatory Agency is a governmental body which is concerned with the regulation of the Security Industry in Dubai. SGW are a SIRA licenced consulting firm – for the licence category of Security Consultancies & Studies. SGW have a licenced branch office at DWC in Dubai and can support organisations to ensure their CCTV and electronic security systems meet the legislative requirements which have been set by SIRA.

Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council – Safety & Security Planning Manual (SSPM) – The Abu Dhabi Safety and Security Planning Manual (SSPM) was commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) to guide the development of safe and secure communities. The purpose of the Manual is to ensure that safety and security are embedded in development proposals and this is best achieved using an Integrated Development Process. SGW are experienced in guiding developers and architects through the process of SSPM compliance at both concept and detailed master plan stages of the project design.
