SGW Emirates recently completed the first phase of a consultancy study, to address the safety and security requirements of the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) in relation the The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Centre, Phases 1 & 2.

The UPC plans and regulates strategic development across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Development proposals are subject to rigorous oversight to ensure that the city makes the most of the current climate of economic and cultural growth.

Plan 2030 will bring with it substantial population growth, demographic change, new industry and transportation systems to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The development review process ‘Planning for Safety & Security’ seeks to ensure that during this time of urbanization, that Abu Dhabi maintains and further enhances its reputation as a safe and secure nation.

 SGW provided risk assessment and risk treatment recommendations for the development to remove vulnerabilities in the proposed development, so that the level of residual risk is tolerable to the owner and to government safety & security stakeholders.

In December 2010, SGW Emirates were appointed by ADIB to provide security consultancy for the new Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) Headquarters building, in Abu Dhabi. SGW's initial appointed services were for the shell and core (landlord's demise), but was further extended for the bank HQ fit out and included: Security Risk and Threat Analysis; Security Strategy development; Electronic and Physical Security Design; Tender Support; Contract Administration; and Witness Testing.

The detailed design of security technology systems will integrate state-of-the-art CCTV, access control, intruder detection and vehicle management controls, whilst the tenant and landlord control rooms will offer a dual redundancy feature, maintaining continuity of service in the event of evacuation or other disruption.

SGW Emirates are also assisting ADIB to realize its aspirations to centrally monitor and verify with live video, the alarm systems from its entire retail banking branches. As well as live video and alarms, the new central control room at its iconic Headquarters will be able to stream recorded video from its network of local recording facilities and securely communicate with each branch and the local emergency authorities.

AXA Investment Managers wished to consolidate and upgrade its CCTV and security systems. SGW first submitted an overarching security survey report. SGW was then commissioned to see the project through design, tender, evaluation, project management and performance witness testing of the new control room.

SGW undertook a review regarding the adoption of common physical security policy across the Barclays Group, making recommendations for any changes. SGW also provided project management at identifed sites ensuring physical security mitigation measures were delivered to individual sites subject to refurbishment or for new build locations.

Following staff concerns SGW were requested to review security arrangements for a new retail outlet without anti bandit screens. Our report identified and assessed potential risks, drew on regional incident data together with financial sector experience, providing recommendation on risk mitigation action.

SGW were engaged to review the existing IT services and operation specifically to provide recommendations for an integrated IT infrastructure across all campus services and educational facilities. As part of this activity SGW provided a high level proposals setting out the building management function and interactions.

Centrepoint identified the need to engage the services of an unbiased, independent CCTV consultant and invited SGW to undertake a detailed CCTV survey of fifteen homeless people's properties within the London region. Following the survey, SGW produced a detailed report highlighting the need to satisfy legal requirements with full recommendations. 

SGW were commissioned to undertake full site surveys, produce reports and make recommendations for the total security solutions at 3 major shopping centres - Metro Centre at Gateshead, Victoria Centre in Nottingham and Chapelfield Shopping Centre, Norwich.

SGW were employed by the Greater Nottinghamshire NHS to oversee the specification and installation of security, surveillance and access systems throughout the LIFT development programme.

SGW Security Consulting provided a holistic approach working closely with the client, the hotel operator, the architect, the M & E consultant, the IT/AV consultant and all other design disciplines throughout the project.

SGW were appointed to provide security consultancy to six industrial estates under the Green Business Parks initiative - Rough Hey, Roman Way, Redscar, Lomeshaye, Heasandford and White Lund. The engagement included the presentation of comprehensive security risk assessment and crime data analysis plus recommendations for security improvements.

Supervision, performance monitoring and witnessing of a major project to install integrated site-wide security were elements of SGW's appointment by the soft services FM team responsible for the HM Treasury building in London.

SGW were engaged to review security throughout the Jersey postal system. The main areas of work involved were the review of review of four sites, the development of a specification and tender review. This was followed by project management activities including a post implementation audit and policy development.

SGW was awarded a contract for the supervision,  project management, procurement and co-ordination of all three phases of the installation and commissioning of the new airport integrated security system.

King Saud Bin Abdul Aziz University for Sciences & Health Affairs (KSAU) is consisting of four campuses distributed in four major cities within Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Riyadh, Jeddah, Hasa and Madinah. Each campus includes different types of buildings; Administration, Education, Hospitals, Residential, Research, Worship, Parking Lots and Utility Buildings. All four campuses are surrounded with security fence with main and secondary gates.

SGW were appointed to provide consulting services and coordination between relevant parties and stakeholders to provide a comprehensive set of standard operating proceedures ('SOP's') in fire, health, safety and security disciplines.

SGW undertook a security review of the City Council's proposed scheme for Pilot House, which indicated works required to improve security and was followed by the production of an outline design, specification and budget costings.

SGW Security Consulting were appointed by London Waste to provide a feasibility study for the provision of site wide CCTV Surveillance and Automatic Number Plate Recognitions Systems and were responsible for managing the competitive tendering process and subsequent project delivery.

SGW undertook a detailed security risk assessment and evaluation of current electronic and physical security measures. This was followed by the design of new security systems and the management of the project through to completion

SGW were commissioned to review current and proposed policies with regard to the adoption of physical security across the Nationwide group, including all subsidiary companies and to comment and to advise on the overall suitability of the group policy.

The main contractor for the North Nottinghamshire NHS LIFT projects requested that SGW provide an executive summary of opinion regarding the suitability of electronic security systems provision for the proposed new buildings.  

Following successful negotiations, SGW was appointed by the Society to undertake three separate risk review and reports. Phase 1 reviewed 14 sites, Phase 2 a further 41 sites and Phase 3 was a strategic review of existing risk assessment processes. During the review process, SGW successfully considered and captured the culture and environment in which the Society operates, providing recommendations supporting the rationale of the Society.

SGW were commissioned as part of the Transform Schools bid strategy to ensure adherence to the security principles recommended for each school and that the approach to security coordinated architectural, building services, IT and FM design and delivery.

SGW produced a feasibility study on the implementation of an ANPR system to enable Pay and Display parking areas to be monitored and controlled. This included customer requirements gathering and the production of a draft report detailing high level design and cost options.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust engaged SGW to specify, procure and project deliver a technical solution and building requirements for trust-wide CCTV and access control to be controlled from a single location.

SGW was commissioned to consider and recommend a security approach for the new Smallford Campus, part of Oaklands College, that would co-ordinate architectural, building services, IT and facilities management design.

SGW were appointed by the University to provide CCTV consultancy services across three individual campus sites. The engagement included detailed design of a new control room, communications infrastructure, integration to third party systems and CCTV networks. SGW later provided technical project management and witness testing.

Sandwell Homes, an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) awarded SGW the contract to assist them with the expansion of security throughout their social housing network. The £2.2 million project included a new centralised CCTV and concierge control centre monitoring more than 500 cameras throughout the 50+ high rise residential blocks.

The University commissioned SGW to develop outline requirements into a detailed performance-based specification for a new command and control room, networked CCTV matrix switching and digital recording systems. SGW managed the tender process, carrying out detailed bid analysis followed by technical project management.

SGW were appointed to undertake a concierge-controlled entry and CCTV viability survey and appraisal of existing systems across both low and high rise housing estates. The project included the preparation of tender documentation for the renewal and upgrade of the systems.

SGW was appointed by The Forum to complete a delapidation and upgrade report followed by a detailed design, specification and tender package. SGW managed the tender process evaluating tender following submission, helping to appoint the contractor and managing the project including full performance and witness testing.

SGW Security Consulting managed the Leeds University project which required upgrading the majority of the University's existing 67 cameras and a further 32 new cameras to provide effective coverage of key areas of operation. A converged IP addressable image transmission system is linked to the University's internal network with fully digital control and recording equipment.

Following a formal tender process, SGW Security Consulting has been appointed consultants for a project that will see the upgrade and relocation of the Leeds City ‘LeedsWatch' public space CCTV, undertaken in partnership with West Yorkshire Passenger Transport who will share the central monitoring facilities

SGW was asked to provide Wolverhampton Homes with CCTV and concierge consultancy associated with the preparation of dilapidation reports of existing systems, feasibility report to centralise single site solution, outline and detailed systems designs, tender evaluation and project management.

SGW was engaged by WSP to carry out a detailed security review to identify current threats and vulnerabilities associated with WSP Birmingham Office, to assess risks dependent upon use of the building and to consider suitability of current security countermeasures deployed in attempt to mitigate risks present.
