 Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to predict the spread of smoke and heat during a fire allowing for a realistic representation of how a building, area of a building or proposed building would be effected by fire. Our SGW fire safety consultants know the importance of the need for skilled technicians to create and run a CFD model that correctly demonstrates all the parameters that are being tested in such a manner that they stand up to review and provide a credible insight into how your building will cope with a fire; when will doors fail and at what point will windows break?

Using CFD modelling SGW can design and make a more cost effective smoke ventilation system whilst maintain building safety. By using an accurate CFD model and applying lessons learnt from the model a bespoke smoke ventilation system can be developed to your own specifications. This allows you to be more cost effective in selecting a supplier. Furthermore using CFD we can help you justify extended travel distances and other design features that may require additional and costly additions when working using a standard risk assessment not taking into account the whole picture.
